Hi, Friends!
I’m back!!!!! I just finished my fall semester of my second year of college, and let me tell you, it has been a stressful few months! I was in some difficult classes that required lots of extra time to study and didn’t have much free time to do anything else other than schoolwork. Since today is the first day of the new year and a new decade I thought I would share with you one of my goals for this year, and a habit I hope to continue in the years to come. The past year and a half that I have been in college I will go months without reading for fun because I just get so caught up in my school work that I hardly have any downtime. However, I am notorious for being quick to whip out my phone to scroll through Instagram or Pinterest in between classes when I have a few minutes to myself, or late at night when I crawl into bed and I should be going to sleep. With all of the time that I waste on my phone, I could just as easily carry a book or my Nook with me and read during my sporadic breaks or at night.
One of my main goals of 2020 is to read one book every week. I know this is going to be challenging when I start classes for the spring semester because I’m going to be back to a busy schedule, but I am going to try my best! I plan to set time aside every night before bed, in between my classes, and during any quick breaks that I might get throughout the day to get some reading in. I am also planning on loaning some audiobooks from my library on Overdrive so I can listen to a book on my hour-long commute to school.
There are way too many unread books on my bookshelves and I have a TBR list that is never-ending, so hopefully, with this challenge, I can make a dent in my list and get to some of those books that I’ve been wanting to read for a while. I’m so excited for this journey and I’m going to give it my best try! Tune back in December of 2020 to find out how I fared in my endeavor. Maybe you will try it along with me? I can guarantee you won’t be disappointed in making a goal to read more books. Happy reading!
Riley 😊
